Songs For Japan, is a non-profit album that’s been released on iTunes as a relief effort to benefit those affected by the recent devastation in Japan. Proceeds from the sale of the album will go to the relief efforts of the Japanese Red Cross Society (JRCS).
For $9.99 and boasting a massive 38 tracks, old and new, from a huge array of international artists, there’s something on there for everyone all good cause. The artists featured on the album include Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Justin Timberlake and Bruno Mars. There are also classic tracks from Bob Dylan (“Shelter From The Storm”) , Queen (“Teo Torriatte Let Us Cling Together)” Bruce Springsteen (“Human Touch”) and John Lennon (“Imagine”).
All involved in the production of the album have waived their royalties and proceeds from its worldwide sales in order to make sure that the JRCS receives as much support as possible from this global initiative. iTunes will also donate its proceeds from the album’s worldwide sales to the benefit of the JRCS, and has prominently featured the project throughout its stores worldwide.
